TESDA Bataan tied up anew with BPSU and Bataan District Jail for the program: “Hope Behind Bars”
This morning, June 8, 2017, the Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP) hosted an opening program for Skills Training of more or less 200 men and women inmates at the Bataan District Jail in Balanga City.
The program was graced by the Jail Officials, BPSU Extension Department headed by Mr. Eduardo S. Tinao, Technology Dean Dr. Bernadeth Gabor and the line of Skills instructors namely; Mr. Leon Valencia, Mr. Generoso Barata, Ms. Andrea Sundiam, Mr. Ronald Lim, Dr. Aurea Reyes, Dr. Bantugan, Mr. John, Dr. Vicky Roque, Dr. Eduardo Santos, Dr. Joey Langas, and many other department support staff.
In TESDA part, the Provincial Director Engr. Jaime S. Castillo and Sr. TESDS Alexander C. Baclig joined the ranks who witnessed the said occasion. Engineer Castillo, in his inspirational speech, noted that the skills to be conducted will have a free assessment fee on the qualifications covered by the two TESDA Training Institutes. He advised the prospective trainee inmates further to choose the best ways in life to succeed and never go back to the jail again. He is optimistic in his speech that there will be higher percentage of passers in their assessment. He ended his speech by congratulating them for their choice to be trained in Skills and by encouraging them to study more.
Dr. Gabor, the one who spearheaded the program reminisced that on 2011, there were only few who supported the program “Hope Behind Bars”. And in her daily prayers, she is requesting God to give her dedicated and passionate people from the academe to fully support the program. She disclosed that it was an answered prayer indeed. She added that she will be presenting to Busan, South Korea next month, her paper regarding the efficiency of Skills training of inmates in Bataan District Jail. With hopes and prayers of all from BJMP and BPSU, and TESDA we pray for the big accomplishment of Dr. Gabor in Busan. Not to mention, she got the first runner up award in TESDA’s “Tagsanay Award”, National Level last year.

- Shielded metal Arc Welding
- Refrigeration and Air-conditioning
- Candle Making
BPSU Officials further expressed the program for all inmates will continue in with the help of partner TESDA Provincial Office.
